Pregnancy Date Calculator

The Pregnancy Calculator can estimate a pregnancy schedule based on the provided due date, last period date,

Last Menstrual Period (LMP)

The Last Menstrual Period (LMP) method is the most commonly used method to estimate a due date. It calculates your due date by counting 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period. This method assumes a regular 28-day cycle and ovulation occurring around day 14 of your cycle. It’s simple and widely used but may not be as accurate for women with irregular cycles or those who don’t ovulate on day 14.

To calculate your due date using LMP:

  • Start with the first day of your last period.
  • Add 280 days (or 9 months and 7 days).

A full term pregnancy lasts for about 40 weeks or 280 days. The due date is usually calculated in a number of ways, such as:

1. The first day of your last period: Knowing the first day of your last menstrual cycle is helpful in arriving at your estimated date of delivery and to calculate your pregnancy weeks. Due date can be calculated by adding 280 days to the first day of your last period. This is based on a 28-day menstrual cycle. You can also use the Naegele’s rule to calculate due date. In this method, you add seven days to the first day of your last cycle and subtract three months. Counting one year ahead of that date will help you arrive at your estimated delivery date.

2. Prenatal ultrasound: If you are not sure of the date of your last menstrual period, an ultrasound will give a more accurate estimate of when your baby will be born. Your obstetrician may advise an early pregnancy ultrasound (usually done at 12 weeks), which will measure the length of the foetus from the crown to the rump. This will help your healthcare provider to arrive at a date.

3. Use the due date calculator: This is easiest way for you to estimate your total weeks of pregnancy and when your little one is expected to enter the world. All you have to do is enter the first day of your last period, and our calculator will tell you the due date. The calculator is based on a 28-day menstrual cycle.
